Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs – Top Tip

Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs

I like to make it easy peeling hard boiled eggs.

Because I’m the kind of man who is always trying to do two or three things at once and time never stands still, I eagerly embrace any shortcuts that make my life easier.

If you are wondering why you have so much trouble when it should be easy peeling hard boiled eggs, this tip’s for you!

My Top Tip for Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs

  • Place your freshly hard-boiled eggs into a bowl of cold water. (Here’s my tips if you need an easy way to boil eggs.)
  • Leaving the eggs in the cold water, take a teaspoon and crack the shell of one egg at the fattest end. Remove the loose eggshell from that section. Just enough so that the egg can squeeze out easily. There is no need to remove the egg you are working on from the cold water. A dry egg is more likely to stick to the shell, especially if the egg is still warm.Yes, you could wait for the eggs to cool completely and then try the next step out of the water. But I’m always in a hurry to get to the food. The cool water on the egg (and on your hands) makes it easy and pleasant to peel the egg without any delay.

Now, if you want it to be really easy peeling hard boiled eggs, pay careful attention.

  • Carefully insert the spoon beneath the shell and slowly move the spoon around the circumference between the shell and egg, separating them before scooping the egg out totally intact and without the need to break and peel the entire shell.

Because a teaspoon is approximately the same shape and size of the egg, it cups the egg easily as you move it around beneath the shell.

I have been to other people’s homes or on picnics and watched folk struggling to peel hard boiled eggs, getting bits of shell everywhere and spending minutes on one egg, when it should only take a few seconds. (Yes, I demonstrate how easily a nice hard-boiled egg can be peeled!)

Try it, and see for yourself!

Always Remember Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs is Easy!

Your attitude will influence whether the task is hard or easy. Peeling hard boiled eggs is a skill you develop.

I can’t imagine anyone being born with a natural talent for extracting eggshells without marking the egg. As in most things in life, practice makes perfect.

If you change your attitude to confidently accepting the task is easy peeling hard boiled eggs should no longer be a problem for you.

Once you have tried this and see how simple it is you will kick yourself and wonder “How come I’ve been doing this for years, and no one ever told me how easy peeling hard-boiled eggs could be?” (I know I did!)

Think of me the next time you’re in a hurry to serve up a salad. You’ll be glad you know my trick for easy peeling hard boiled eggs!

How fantastic! I am always looking for a easy method of peeling eggs, admittedly my least favorite kitchen task! Since I use them not just for breakfast, but in many dishes as well, I am excited to give this a go! It never occurred to me to do it like this!

      Hi Cousin Kyn,
Thanks for reading. I do hope you give this a try and it works for you. We have peeled them this way for years but surprised that many others weren’t aware of the method. It makes a tedious job very easy. It does seem to work even better with store bought eggs than our own backyard eggs. They seem to slip out of the shell a little easier for some reason. Maybe they have a little vegetable oil or something added to their feed.
